In this episode, we hear from Dr. Barbara Boyan who received an OREF Research Grant in 1989, which she used to study the role of vitamin D in bone growth and development.

Dr. Boyan is Executive Director of the Institute for Engineering and Medicine at Virginia Commonwealth University and is professor of Biomedical Engineering where she holds the Alice T. and William H. Goodwin Jr. Chair. She is presently co-principal investigator of VCU’s NSF-sponsored Advance-IT grant, which promotes career development of women faculty in STEM related disciplines and of the NIH-sponsored “Building Interdisciplinary Research Careers in Women’s Health (BIRCWH)” award to VCU.
