Dr. Marc Swiontkowski
In this episode we hear from Dr. Marc Swiontkowski, who received several OREF grants between 1981 and 1987 to study femoral neck fractures, including a fixation method and microcirculation of the bone.
After a research fellowship in Switzerland supported by funding from OREF’s Berg-Sloat Traveling Fellowship, Dr. Swiontkowski joined the faculty at Vanderbilt University. Since then, he has held positions of professor of Orthopaedic Surgery and Chief of Orthopaedic Surgery at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, professor and chairman of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Minnesota, and CEO for TRIA Orthopaedic Center. He is currently a professor at the University of Minnesota.
